Of every model I make, the SuperJet 2021+ extension sells the most. It is not close. There is a reason for that, and it starts with the ski itself.

When Yamaha brought the SuperJet back with the TR-1 four-stroke, they had to grow the hull to fit the engine. The 2021+ is longer, wider, taller and heavier than the two-stroke it replaced. Yamaha built a more stable ski, and stability and quickness pull in opposite directions.
Riders noticed immediately. The most common thing you read in forums and owner threads is that the stock ski feels sluggish to turn, and that it does not carve the way the older round nose or 2008-2020 SuperJet did. Some owners describe running a long list of mods before the ski feels right to them. Even Yamaha acknowledged the tension by giving the steering nozzle two settings, 16 or 19 degrees, so riders could choose how aggressive they wanted the response to be.
None of this makes it a bad ski. It is torquey, reliable, forgiving for newer riders, and legal to buy without a race licence. It just leaves something on the table in the corners, and owners know it.
What most owners reach for first
The usual answer to a lazy-feeling SuperJet is a shopping list: quick steer, ride plate, intake grate, front and rear sponsons, sometimes lead in the hull. That is a lot of money and a lot of wrenching before you find out whether you actually liked the result.
The extension is a different proposition. It bolts onto your stock nozzle, changes nothing else on the ski, and comes off in a minute. It does not touch the steering angle. What it does is move the thrust further from the pivot point, so every degree of steering you already have does more work. More authority in the turn, more composure in a straight line.
Between the price and an installation that takes less than a minute, it is probably the most affordable and most noticeable upgrade available for this particular model. For an owner who wants to know whether more steering feel is what their ski was missing, it is the cheapest honest answer available.
What riders report
The feedback on the 2021+ extension has been consistent. Owners describe noticeably more leverage the moment they get on the water. One rider running the 50mm without a quick steer fitted said the turn ratio felt spot on, and that wide open straights felt more planted and linear than stock. Others report the ski holds its line better at speed rather than wandering.
That combination is exactly what the four-stroke hull needed: not more angle, more authority. The stability Yamaha engineered into the hull stays intact. What comes back is the response.
